Doongalla State Forest
Below is a map of The Mt Dandenong state Forest (Doongalla). The corner of Glascow and Sheffield road is a good place to start.
To enter the state forest, heading along the dirt part of Sheffield road, on the left about 100m up the hill is a Gate/ log. From this point you can explore all of the tracks. Heading up the hill, taking Bills Track and the Channel 10 track will take you to the top, whilst staying down near the bottom of the Mountain, the tracks are less steep and there are some super fast, and fun single tracks with logs and jumps.
The Fenceline track follows the fenceline of the adjoining properties along Glascow road. This track is pretty serious and has some awesome rock sections, wash-aways and rutts.Even the keenest of riders find this one a challenge. You could also start at the top of the mountain and take the single track down. Entering from Eyre Road (at the foot of the tower) and heading south, you will come to a fire track and single track. The Downhill track starts here and follows parrellel with Rankin Track. If you get lost, just head down and you will always find Sheffield road.
If you are seeking some fun and Challenging riding, Doongalla has always been a Favorite of ours here at Yarra Valley Cycles. Come on in and ask us if you wish to know more.
